Dear Members,

Within the "blink of an eye" Xmas and New Year celebrations are now behind us and we can look forward to a new golfing season with Seniors. To keep you up to date with events the following information is provided:

MANAGEMENT

The Senior Golfers' Society of Queensland held their 14th Annual General Meeting on Monday 11th November 2024 at Brisbane Golf Club with 40 Members in attendance.

The election of Office Bearers and Committee Members was conducted at the meeting and the results of the elections are shown below:

The first Committee Meeting for 2025 will be held on Friday 7 February 2025 at Brisbane Golf Club. Feel free to contact any Committee Members if you have a matter that you would like raised.

GOLF

We have an excellent program scheduled for 2025 including games at Bribie Island, Southport, Toowoomba and Twin Waters. 

Details of the first game of the year (President versus Captain Teams event) are as follows:

Date :      Monday, 10 Feb 2025

Place:      RQGC

Time:       8.00am Shotgun start

Match:    4 BBB Stableford Medley for SGSQ Members. 

Tees:       Blue/Red

The program for 2025 is on the website so please note your diaries accordingly. Members are reminded of their commitment to regularly participate in the golfing program. While there are quite a few games where spouses/ partners are welcomed, it is important that the Members' events are also well supported.

CHILE TOUR  22 MARCH- 5 APRIL 2025

SGSQ has 6 Members and 2 partners participating in the abovementioned tour. Congratulations to Peter Robbie who has been appointed as Tour Captain. The trip sounds very exciting with eight games of golf coupled with various social events including a visit to a local winery. The biggest challenge for our Members will be which major attractions they include in their rest day activities. We wish them safe travels.

PERTH TOUR  13 -20 SEPTEMBER 2025

The SGSQ annual tour will be held in Perth this year.

Accommodation will be at the Double Tree Hilton- Perth Waterfront at Elizabeth Quay where the welcome and closing functions will also be held.

The golf program will be as follows:

• Monday- Lake Karrinyup Country Club
  
• Tuesday- Joondalup Resort
  
• Wednesday- Rest Day with lunch to be held at Matilda Bay Restaurant in Crawley on the banks of the Swan River.
  
• Thursday- The Cut Golf Course, Dawesville
  
• Friday- Meadow Springs Golf and Country Club

Member interest in the Perth Tour has been strong with bookings oversubscribed at this point, necessitating establishment of a modest waiting list.  Whilst there is a waiting list, if you have an interest in attending the Perth Tour we still encourage you to submit an "Expression of Interest" given there is always potential for withdrawals/ cancellations leading up to the event.

Bookings from Members will be allocated on a "first come first served" basis.
